hygiene issues ..

Re: hygiene issues ..

gross  totally gross .. but yeah i guess its the norm in most homes , they hardly wash their hands these days :smack:

Re: hygiene issues ..

 horrorhorror*

we went out with some people and they insisted we go back to their place for dinner (insisted everything was arranged)..it sure was arranged..we entered their place and everything was laid on table/ counter’s etc UNCOVERED and I swear I saw roaches there.. turns out they had someone over for lunch and they were serving us leftover food :nahi: All bowls were half eaten, dessert badly dug from the bowl.. the dining table was dirty from the previous party … That was the worst I have ever had, we felt extremely insulted.

Re: hygiene issues ..

Masi , you guys should have gifted them a few roaches packed in a bottle :omg:

you know I hate it when the host uses the half dug bowl of sweet :smack: … It just ruins the good presentation

Re: hygiene issues ..

bows down my devil guru

OMG I agree I hate that! The wiping sweat off with their duppatta :/

Re: hygiene issues ..

On the topic of kids... one time we were invited over for iftari, a second before iftari time, the host calls in her kids and some others who had been fasting... "aao aao roza khol lo".

All these boys rush inside the house from the yard where they had been playing for hours. All the moms (around 3) made plates for their kids and told them it was time to eat, NONE asked their kid to wash hands. I was horrified. eek

Re: hygiene issues ..

True Sajal , it shows the utter ignorance on the part of the mothers … whats the point of keeping the food in clean plates when the hands they are gonna eat with are full of germs

omg after reading everyones post i may never eat out anywhere ever again:teary2:. the other day in the canteen at work i found a hair in my food..many years ago for eid round my behji’s house, my sister found a couple of eyelashes in her chawal heh heh, it was funny to those of us who had eyelash free chawal.

Re: hygiene issues ..

All this makes me sick but if you guys know what goes on in those fancy rest. and other places we love to eat out.. you'll prefer any home cooked food. I've worked at those places in my college days for extra cash.. boy oh boy!

-When you ask for a drink... they usually scoop ice from the ice maker thing to your cup.. DON'T EVER LOOK IN THE ICE MAKER.. haha.. its nasty.. summer time i've seen employees standing with their hands in the ice maker to get some cool... grrr

-This is a very popular thing ... when you ask for a soda.. it usually take some time for the bubbles or gas or whatever it is to sit so the server can put more to fill up your cup... one tried and tested method for them to do it fast is to dip your finger in the cup.. the gas instantly goes done making room for more soda..

-They will spit in your drink if they don't like you.. seen it..

-Going to the bathrooms and not washing hands is very very common

-Cleaning/mopping/sweeping and not washing hands.. another thing

-Knifes and other things they use.. ewwwwww

I can go on and on...

Re: hygiene issues ..

so it reminds me of the story about the dude who orders salan and the waiter brings it and his thumb is in the bowl, the dude gets mad and says take your thumb out of my food and shove it up your ass, the waiter says yeah thats where it was before I brought your food.

I had a similar experience when at a restaurant the waiter brings us salan and his bandaged thumb is partially immersed in the bowl :D

Re: hygiene issues ..

ewwwwww X2 … I hope you punched him real hard :sahar02:

**Spiral **, thats real horror mate .. I have totally stopped eating out due to the horror stories i hear … :cb:

Re: hygiene issues ..

I actually tried what you said spiral... to see if the fizz would go down.. I did however do it in my own drink and guess what it works...

Re: hygiene issues ..

and not forget the hairs in food
i was invited by an aunty last year and when she served diner she make haleem and when my sis want to put haleem in her plate there was a big hair in the spoon since that i dont want to eat haleem

ohhh man i was so hungry a minute ago but i have lost all my appetite , i dont think i can ever eat at anybody's house or at a restaurant again

Re: hygiene issues ..

Years ago there was this controversy around a famous fast food chain restaurant that caught one of it's employees using the "alternative topping" to mayonaise on a burger he was about to serve someone he didn't like. ewwwwwwwwwwww.

This happened somewhere in Florida and I am not disclosing the name of the restaurant because you will not be able to eat there again... I have not. :(

Re: hygiene issues ..

ewe… I am so disgusted right now. Mental note: avoid eating out and dawats.

To the pakistani auntie dawat issue… i think the lack of hygiene stems from homeland itself. I swear people there have the mentality “what doesn’t kill you … well thats alright then”. As dirty and completely UN-HYGENIC that country is with all the dust, bugs, lizards, heat, etc… they should be all about keeping up on hygiene. Its so gross. Many people don’t wash their plates, utensils, etc with soap.. just water. They are literally sweating into the food they are preparing. They will serve you food they got from the street…pakora’s, etc. and such that had flies sitting on them 2 minutes before they were on your plate. The food they cook themselves.. they just place on the table without covering it so flys are constantly landing on it. Not washing hands and putting ice into your drink. The whole taste testing thing with finger. I can go on and on and on… but it is really horrifying to see the least. I seriously do not eat when I go to dawats there and consequently suffer the qustions of if I have an eating disorder or if something is wrong with me :smack:.

I feel like these bad habits have started in pakistan… these aunties are from there or their mothers (who are from there) have taught them that its no big deal. And now they are passing along the same non-chalant no big deal to have good hygiene to their kids. Ahhhh its a vicious cycle.

Compared to how nasty and horrible the hygiene is in Pakistan… I’m sure most people here in the west think that they are SOOOOOOOOOOO much better and are doing nothing wrong with their own bad habits. Even tho they are…
