Hydroquinone

Can anyone recommend a cream containing 3-4% hydroquinone that has been tried and tested please? Thank you.

Re: Hydroquinone

3% in this. I don’t think you can get more than 3% w/o prescription. Do a patch test to make sure it doesn’t break you out b/c its a heavy cream formula. I have acne prone skin & didn’t have issues with this. I used it as a spot treatment for hyper pigmentation on face and back. Wal-mart carries this too & its cheaper in store I think.

Re: Hydroquinone

^isn't it a carcinogen?

Re: Hydroquinone

^ Studies have shown that it MAY act as a carcinogen in rodents. So far there has not been any conclusive studies that shows that its a carcinogen in humans. I imagine FDA would not allow this to be a OTC product if a study proved that this causes cancer.

However, it has been linked to ochronosis, a condition in which the skin becomes dark and thick.

Re: Hydroquinone

Hmmm I should give it a try then

Neostrata skin brightening cream, hydroquinone formula.

Re: Hydroquinone

cream hair bleaches have hydroquinone in them. But for me they had the "ochronosis, a condition in which the skin becomes dark and thick". When I used it to bleach unwanted hair above the lips, it did darken the tiny patch of skin near my lips. Thankfully I stopped using it and instead used waxing and plucking so it didn't really cause any permanent darkening. Now my skin in that area is getting back to my natural skintone again but slowly.

Re: Hydroquinone

Thank you :)

Re: Hydroquinone

this, ochronosis, does it happen after the products been working well, and suddenly it may darken skin etc.
or is it just some people who it doesnt work for will get his darkening effect when using it first time.

i have used for a year on/off not continously. and its so far so good. alhumdulilah.

Re: Hydroquinone

^ I don't think so. My skin is really sensitive and I just had bad a reaction to hydroquinone when I was in my teen years. I'm thankful that tiny patch is back to normal again. Most people don't go through that
