The cosmetic/skincare market is raving about the benefits of this acid, it is also used for fillers n even said to be more longterm than collagen fillers. However, there is s debate on its effectiveness when used in a moisturiser/serum.
What do u guys think? Have u tried this? If yes, then how has it helped you?
The cosmetics/skin care industry always manages to come up with a new "miracle" anti-aging ingredient. :)
I've done some reading on hyaluronic acid but not extensive research. It's already present naturally in our bodies...the amount just decreases as we age. And yes, as you mentioned, it's been used in various medical procedures for quite a while.
Hyaluronic acid is basically a super moisturising ingredient that's already present in many serums and creams. Now new serums and creams are being marketed with a more higher % of the acid in it (along with a higher price tag!). Hyaluronic plays an important role in production of collagen and elastin, and often it is used in combination with other substances that enhance collagen production in skin like vitamin C, peptides, and different plant extracts. Hyaluronic acid on it's own will mostly help moisturize the skin.
However, with concerns related to anti-aging.......hyaluronic acid is not the ingredient for rejuvenating the skin like other ingredients. Retin A would be the substance that can reverse sings of ageing like hyperpigmentation and wrikles when used regularly.
