KARACHI, Pakistan: Sep 08 (PNS) - The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has approved its Pakistan Chapter. The Charter of the society’s Pakistan chapter was announced by ASHRAE President, Richard Rooley and other its members from America at a press briefing here Saturday.
The Society also hosted a dinner for its newly elected office- bearers and members of its Pakistan chapter. Richard Rooley, President ASHRAE, said the Society is community of 55,000 members from the 156 chapters all over the world contributing in the industry through transfer of knowledge and training of individual professionals.
Pakistan chapter of the society will become prime source of dissemination of knowledge in field Air Conditioning and refrigeration for the professionals of the country and draw strength from the community of 55,000 ASHRAE members, he said ASHRAE Journal Club is designed to disseminate technical information to all ASHRAE members and non- members, particularly young engineers.
He said since ASHRAE believes that engineers enable civilization to march forward, improve quality of life in ways that we take for granted such ventilating houses for heating and cooling to live and work productively in hot and humid climates and processing and delivering food etc, it is at the forefront in this journey,”As AHSRAE’s first president from outside North America, my focus this year on the diversity of our society’ he said ‘Charter of Pakistan Chapter is in line of the same focus which will bring in new opportunities for Pakistan young engineers of furthering their knowledge and skill in the fields’ Farooq Mehbood, President elect (2003-2004) ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter said ASHARE is to advance the arts and sciences of heating ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public’s benefit through research, standards writing continuing duration and publications.
He said ASHRAE will endeavor not only to achieve its objectives but to foster a close and working relationship with the Pakistan HVACR Society. Fahim I Siddiqui, President pakistan HVACR said both HAVCR which actually patronized the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter, and the Society should work together, benefiting from each other to ensure continuity and growth of this position .He also proposed establishment of separate chapters at Lahore and Islamabad, as it to have more chapters will benefit Pakistan.
Muhammad Abbas Sajid, Secretary ASHRAE Pakistan welcomed the establishment of ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter and said a lot of work and dedication is required from the officers and members of pakistan chapter required to make the Chapter a success and to maintain a high degree of professionalism in this field.
He said Pakistan being a developing country has a major role to play in the establishment of standards for the industry especially with the onset of the WTO agreements in 2005 and approval of ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter will offer an opportunity of pakistani professional to be get themselves trained and ready for the challenges that future holds.
