Husbands are allowed with wives in the delivery room in abroad but what about pakistan? Are husbands allowed here in pakistan to be there to support their wives? Which hospitals are ok with it? Share your information/experiences

Sorry can't answer the question but I would much rather have hubby seeing me in that state than another female family member. Are we not supposed to have purdah with them.

You are absolutely right babybird. I would want my hubby to be there with me in that state as well. Who can understand and support you more than your husband? You don't feel comfortable with any other person/family member in the delivery room as it is very awkward in my opinion. Parda from hubby? What about parda from other family members like mother in law etc. I can never be comfortable giving birth around my mother in law 😕

Just to clarify, i meant are we not supposed to have a certain purdah with other women etc
I wouldnt want a female family member including my mother or sisters seeing my body like that whilst giving birth.
With hubby its completely acceptable. He was an amazing support to me during labour and made me love him even more. There's no purdah with husband and wife but i guess in pakistan, culture dictates over religion which may be why husbands arent allowed to help their wives during labour.

I don't think hospitals allow anyone from mother's family and friends to be present in delivery room...
Most alllow women of the family to be present in labor rooms.. Some even allow husbands to be present there...but only the mother goes to delivery rooms
The hospital i delivered in used gynae ayas or midwives or some such person to encourage during delivery... It was hilarious.. Them going c'mon c'mon..

Agha khan hospital in Karachi allows the husband to be in the delivery room. The hospitals that don't allow the husband also do not allow other family members to be present. Labor room before delivery is another story.

Pak Saudi hospital in Islamabad also allows husbands but it depends on your doctor. You can ask your doctor beforehand if she allows it. Also, some doctors do allow the husband during a non emergency c-section.

I feel so angry about this. A good friend of mine went to a private hospital in India for delivery. She had to labor for 12 hours by herself.. she was so petrified she was crying for the Dr to allow her mom or husband to be with her, but they did not relent. In the end, she had to have a C section... she tells me she was just too tired, scared, and in pain to do a normal birth. I'm sure she would have been in a better frame of mind had they allowed her husband in!

In Pakistan most hospitals allow family members to be there during labor but they send them out (including the husband) when its the actual time to deliver. Besides cultural norms, its also because they dont want irrelavnt people during a medical procedure (their opinion).

Agha khan hospital allow husband in labour room but when Dr or nurses come to check they put curtain and ask husband to go behind that .

Its not that but because the doctors and nurses don't like a man to be present while they are checking.
