Allah describes spouses as being “garments for one another” (Al Baqarah:187); meaning, that a husband and wife are both an adornment for one another, and a covering for one another – that they will always make each other happy, feel beautiful, protect each other and look out for one another.

Realistic expectations: Marriages get weird and stupid when you start thinking you’re living in a dream world. You both are Human, you both need to have realistic expectations from each other. The most awesome couples are those who keep a firm grip on reality and know it’s not a movie, they know when to ask for what and What not to expect from their spouses.

A wife and a husband should be regarded as friends for the sake of Allah. And that friendship is above material needs; each encouraging the other one to do good deeds, which are pleasing to Allah.
