could the lady simply be complimenting herself in a weird strange way? Sorry i actually knew this one lady...rather know....of one that she would say rather strange things...but in the end just to compliment herself....meanwhile her hubby is rather decent and not like that.

its probably becuz hes pretty shy telling her straight up how beautiful she is but rather putting her into some situation and tell her that u'll be able to handle it since ure beautiful..

women’s beauty can be objectified…if they dont show their wisdom from the beginning.
beauty is not lasting…n if she agreed to do what his husband wanted him to do then 
tomorrow if she doesn’t remained beautiful (some incident, or aging factor), is he gonna marry some other good looking gal?

That is absolutely ridiculous!! Men with such idiotic mentality are disgusting!! And no, ofcourse you are not over-recating. Men should go forward and do these things and protect their wife, her beauty, her mind, everything. It never ceases to amaze me how much time people have on their hands that someone else's husbands words, that might or might not be his, concern them to the point where they need to start up a thread on a site to ponder over this issue..!! His words will never effect you and he will never say them to you.. do you honestly find this issue so troublesome that you need advice and seek deep understanding of the mentality of men?

It's weird that he acknowledged it but many people try to leverage themselves this way. for example, if i want to get a car fixed, i will always send my dad or brother even though there is no difference in our knowledge. and when i wanted to get on stage for a concert, i just took my mom with me and used her novelty factor/age to my advantage. also, my sister is pretty so sometimes if we need a favor we send her. it really does suck when ppl judge you based on looks, rather than merit, but sometimes even when a person is trying to be neutral, an unconscious preference may slip in. so that might give you the tiny 1% edge you need...maybe more...most ppl know this and do use the 'looks factor' to their advantage some times.
