This Alito senate confirmation brought up an interesting case that he ruled on where the two parties disagreed upon the notion that does the husband has the right to be notified in case of an abortion or not.
Off course most of us believe there shouldn’t be abortion to begin with but in case it was for genuine health related issues where the woman’s life was in danger, do you still believe that a husband should be required to be notified? How about parents?
Just as an FYI, it is been claimed in the news media that 85%+ of women do notify their husbands regardless of the rule that states that they are not required to notify their spouse.
married people should never ever have secrets like this. its a very personal decision surely but one that needs both parties to participate in the decision. yes its the gal's body and all that yeah yeah yeah. But the guy contributed here too, so lets not forget that. especially in a marriage situation.
Husbands sometimes leave, die or are abusive or might not be the father in some cases and when that particular case went to the Supreme Court, it decided that such notifications are unconstitutional because women with abusive husbands would not get an abortion for the fear of retribution.
there are always extenuating circumstances but truly if a guy makes a baby - no matter how evil he may be, he deserves to at least know that he made a baby and should participate (to some degree) as to what happens to the babyl Not that I think a man should ever have the right to force birth on an unwilling woman, thats a definite no-no but the guy should at least KNOW that he made a baby, that he could be liable for support of the baby etc.
last night on NPR they had a lady who had left her abusive husband and was pregnant w/ her 4th child. She was told to get her husband's permission before she could get an abortion. It was an interesting "editorial"
