In this case Jat panchayat would have killed both Bakht and Amrit in the name of honor:D, this is why fiction always pleases, Jatism was intact before partition but many jats left after partition and many were forcibly reverted back to hinduism in Haryana, though small community of muley jat exist in western uttarpradesh:)

Even it is said in Indian Army that it is not Indo-pak war it is punjab wars, punjabis of one side fought with punjabi of other side with other communities augmenting their support:D

In the novel, Bakht was from dominant group and Lehna Singh didn't take the matter seriously. Probably, he himself wanted to get rid of Amrit Kaur :D

Once I saw an old women alongwith Huqqa in train during our journey from Lahore to Karachi. She was quite quarellsome and occupied our seat alongwith huqqa. :bummer: :cobra:
