Arab Sheikhs got so much time to visit other countries for hunting. Is it only Pakistan which provide them with such leisure at the cost of extinction of rare species of birds or they got other hunting camps?
Activists in the country say they are determined to end the annual killing of houbara bustards, an elusive bird that migrates each winter from central Asia to Pakistan’s warmer climes.
Although the birds are officially protected, VIP visitors from the Gulf enjoy their traditional hunts with falcons and believe the houbara’s meat has aphrodisiac properties.
“Is there any more ridiculous reason to kill an animal?” said Naeem Sadiq, a Karachi-based activist who petitioned the Lahore high court to ban the practice. “If it’s illegal for Pakistanis to kill these birds why should the Arab sheikhs be allowed to do it?”

Its only in Pakistan that they are accorded such 'facilities'. The reasons for granting such permissions are solely political. All of our politicians have huge stakes in the UAE.
Sadly enough, the bird is equally endangered in the UAE, and hunting is banned here. But they are more than happy to chow it down in Pakistan.

From what I understand, the concept of it being an aphrodisiac is more folklore than anything else. Its just the thrill of hunting with falcons…the high it gives them, which causes them to take these pleasure trips. Why target the houbara bustard? Perhaps because of tradition.

To be honest, these Shaikhs got same attitude towards the lives of birds in Pakistan, as they got about Pakistani public. adventure to kill.
