Re: Hundereds of Christians move to camps to avoid attacks by Hindu Extremists
Well, I cant speak for the intentions of the missionaries... I dont think anyone can. I dont think anyone can judge intentions really. As far as I know, the Missionaries, whatever their intentions, have helped people in one way or another... Very different from crusaders who slaughtered thousands in cold blood.
Many of these Missionaries might have a genuine belief that by converting these people to Chirsitianity, they are doing them favor...
And while I cant speak for the Indian govt, but instead banning Missionaries, the govt should tackle the problems that make the poor such easy targets for Missionaries to begin with... Instead of banning them, their should be Hindu groups going out to do their own missionary work...
These riots and bans on Missionary work actually work against the Indian govt...
The fact that the Missionaries can get people to convert is first a crtique of Indian failures, but at the same time, its a testement to India's relgious tolerance... I think India's tolerance should be more important and take precedence over what Missionaries are doing.
govt hasn't banned them. and should not also. and as far as intentions goes, missionaries indeed believe by converting to christianity a soul is saved and they will demean other beliefs/gods. It is a well known fact also to many people and I have absolutely no problems with that as everyone thinks his beliefs are correct and also as long as they too are okay if someone else does/gives similar treatment to their beliefs
