Taliban invites Bush, Blair for a duel
Mon Nov 05 11:09:18 2001

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (UPI)-- Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban militia on Monday proposed a duel among President George W. Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and its leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.

“The Americans have launched propaganda that Mullah Omar has gone in hiding, so I will propose that Mr. Blair and Mr. Bush should take Kalashnikovs and come to a specified place where Mullah Omar will appear with the Kalashnikovs to determine as to who will run,” Taliban Foreign Minister Maulvi Wakil Ahmed Mutawakil was quoted as saying by Iran’s IRNA news agency.

“Mullah Omar changes places because of security,” he said at the Taliban Foreign Ministry’s Guest House in Kandahar.. “He effectively runs affairs of the government as in the past.”

Mutawakil also reiterated the Taliban’s claim that U.S. soldiers and “spies” had been arrested in Afghanistan, but he refused to provide details of the incidents.

Ruling out the possibility of any negotiated solution to the hostilities in Afghanistan, Mutawakil said the United States had closed doors for talks.

“After the American refusal to hold talks, now to whom we should talk to?” he asked.

He said the Taliban would welcome all volunteers, but said they were not needed until a ground battle began.

Since Oct. 7, U.S. planes have bombed Afghanistan in retaliation for the Taliban’s refusal to hand over Osama bin Laden, the man Washington says masterminded the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington that killed some 5,000 people.

END

Wasn’t there a duel between the US Delta Force and the Taliban a couple of weeks ago? We all know what the outcome was.

It would solve a lot of problems and untold deaths of civilians if the leaders did the fighting instead, but i doubt if that will ever happen-As for the football stadium, anything would be better than the last scene I saw happen there, with the Taliban taking a women to the penalty spot, forcing her to her knees, then shooting her in the back of the head,in front of a full crowd.(see cnn Sun 11th,beneath the veil`)

“na maiN* momin vich masiitaa*N, na maiN* muusaa, na fir'aun!”

i don't get it...why is that the public execution is sooo bad, while private execution is all rite??? both ways they die...texas executes probably the same number of ppl as the whole US combined...but no one says a word against it...and first listen to the whole story ...the women executed in beneath the veil was found guilty of killing her husband while he was sleeping...and could not defend him self...so whats wrong with executing murderers??

The problem is America chooses to be hypocrites and there public are in self denial. It criticizes taliban on one hand saying they don’t allow women to be educated etc firstly how u expect women to be educated if there civil war going on and u don’t have facilities anyway. On the other hand it stays quite as a mouse when it comes to criticizing Saudi arabia for its executions or lack of quote on quote freedom i think maybe the petro dollars blinding them to this fact, and as many have already pointed out United states executes by gas, lethal injections, electricity wow what barbarians and yes i am talking about america not taliban
