Famous Indian film writer Javed Siddiqui is writing a film for Pakistani TV artist Humayun Saeed, which is being produced by Saeed with a budget of Rs 50 crore:eek: . The film will have lyrics given by Gulzar, India’s famous lyricist, poet and songwriter.
Siddiqui has written a number of blockbusters for the Bollywood cinema such as ‘Dil Walay Dulhaniya Ley Jain Gay’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Fiza’, ‘Zubaida’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and ‘Umraao -Jan-e-Ada’. He is presently in Lahore to meet friends including people from the Pakistani film industry.
Siddiqui also had an exclusive meeting with Shehzad Rafique, the director of the film, in Lahore and had met Saeed during his visit to Karachi earlier.
Saeed confirmed that he was producing a film for Rs 50 crore. “I am producing this film as an effort to revive the Pakistani film industry”, Saeed told Daily Times from Karachi. Saeed said the movie revolved around a marriage that took place between two different personalities.
He added that the film’s cast had not been finalized yet, but actors from both India and Pakistan could be given a chance
Filming on locations would begin some time in April in Pakistan and the United States of America (USA). “The proportion of shooting would be equal in both the countries,” he added. He said that the film’s music had been completed. He said the film’s cast had not been finalized yet but actors from both India and Pakistan could be in it.
How do they think they're going to recover all this money? Anyway, Shehzad Rafique didn't impress me at all in either Rukhsati or Salaakhain. Saeed ought to get a better director. Maybe someone like Zeba Bakhtair. She did a fab job in her debut directorial venture, which unfortunately bombed.
In the Pakistani film market its hard enough to recover 5 crore but to recover 50 is a dream. If it was 20 crore and the film become a massive hit then it is possible.
There is nothing wrong with Shehzad Rafiq as director. Salakhain was pretty good and Rukhsati was not bad also. The problem our film makers have is that they must choose better quality scripts.
Currently this is the biggest weakness of our Urdu films.
well humayun saeed is a very respected person in the industry, maybe he got finace by the gov. to make this movie to revive the industry like shoaib monsoor did.
and yea shazad rafique did an excellent job in salakhain.
I was a biggest fan of Hamayun, but not now.. is this a rule or Hadith that indians should be included in every Pakistani film? does Pakistan has it's own identity? i dont think we are going popular through. Indians are Indians and Pakistanis are Pakistanis. did we need them in our top class dramas? did we need them in our outstanding music? but why in films. are they inviting us especialy our males? even i think the co-productions sucks..it's nothing but politics and fame passion.. didnt think hamayun will do this.
^^ With all your newspapers and channels massively supporting the bhartee entertainment scene (and doing everything to diss n ditch what's Pakistani), it's not too surprising that our showbiz folks are resorting to these cheap tactics. It's just plain easy money to them.
Well said Bollybuster and Masoom Bacha. You have rightly said we don't even need Indian channels to impose their culture on us. Our channels and the print media are doing this wonderful job for the Indians.
Geo is currently boasting that it showed the Indian Film Fare awards live and is claiming to be the leading entertainment channel in Pakistan. So sad.
^^ I think Pakistani film makers will only be forced into rethinking their film making startegy when Bollywood stuff/films with their actors start to bomb in the theatres. SO from that perspective, maybe it's a good idea to let them in.
All i need to aks that we can think whats happening wrong whats not, but where is the government? could'nt the stop people doing this..
if its remain we will lost our culture, and this would be simply the way indians to get Pakistan back (Khudankhwasta) as just like Miss Canada Pakistan, could'nt anyone stop them? and people who sould love to see Pakistani girls in beauty pageants would send their own sisters and other relateives (I am asking gupshupians) ?
I wonder why we have to bring in the government into everything. The next thing, you guys will be cribbing about why doesn't the government do something about dirty diapers. The people need to grow up, smell the coffee, and act out some well co-ordinated plan. We need to have attractive,healthy, well made Pakistani alternates. First of all, the Karachi-Lahore media folks need to get along and start using each other instead of sticking to group-bazee. That's already started to happen with that Ali Zaf film which is using people from all over Pak -- the director is a Karachiite, Ali Zaf is from Lahore while the actresses are a diverse mix too. That is the path we should be taking. Make your own stuff successful, work hard on it, the people WILL revert provided it's good enough and lives up to their standards. And ofcourse, more media support would not hurt at all. But protectionism is going to get us nowhere.
Government should be grabbed even on the road not only in forums or discuassions, what do you think busharraf doesnt knows what happeining in media? and shiekh rashid especially?
