NEW DELHI: Police here have sought details of at least 40 members of the Lok Sabha for their suspected role in a massive human smuggling racket run by travel agents across the country following the arrest of a parliamentarian for misusing his wife’s passport for alleged human trafficking.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat has received complaints from the wives of some MPs who alleged that their husbands have been flying abroad with other women posing as their wives. These MPs, belonging to six political parties, have been asked by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to send diplomatic passports issued to them and their wives for scrutiny.
Sources in the Lok Sabha Secretariat said that diplomatic passports issued to 100 former MPs since 1994 were also being scrutinised following a verification request by police officers investigating the case of Babubhai Katara.
The wives of at least two MPs from Uttar Pradesh have complained to the Lok Sabha speaker that their husbands were taking around other women on trains and flights while public complaints were also pouring in since the day Katara was arrested. The BJP tops the list with 10 MPs other than Katara, followed by eight of Congress and seven of the Bahujan Samaj Party.
The sources said that on March 23, Sharda Devi alleged that her husband Chandradev Prasad Rajbhar, a Samajwadi Party MP from Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, had thrown her out of the house and had been misusing the facility extended to her as an MP’s wife by showing a 22-year-old girl his wife. Rajbhar says that his wife had fallen out with him and has been making baseless allegations against him.
The sources said that another complaint had come from Pramila Kumari, wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Rajesh Kumar Manjhi from Bihar, seeking an inquiry into the travel and medical facilities taken by him for a woman he said was his wife. iftikhar gilani
What if the BJP has been be exporting Hindu extremists this way? This is a disaster. International security all over the world has been compromised. I think Pakistan should stop inviting any MPs from Hindustan.
