Re: Human Resources
Re: Pertinent Training for an HR position, community colleges & vocational institutes typically have pretty good continuing ed type programs for this. The HR Generalist Certificate from Cornell Univ. (can be done online) is very well regarded in the HR functions in multinationals - check it out here:

Re: your interview - so you’re probably looking at a trainee position followed by an HR generalist appointment.
Knowing where you want to concentrate & specialize may perhaps come up as a way for your interviewers to gauge your interest & aptitude in HR. Before you go for your interview, think about how you can relate your education in Psychology to various areas that an HR generalist is engaged in on a day-to-day basis, and which would you like to pursue as a specialty in the long-term. Examples include:
- training,
- consulting,
- compensation,
- organization development,
- labor relations,
- salary administration,
- workplace safety
thsse are the ones I can think of on the top of my head.
I’ve worked in HR for a couple of years at GE as an e-HR consultant and later as a talent-branding advisor – if you need more specific advice, feel free to gimme a shout via PM.
Good Luck for tomorrow! :k:
