HUman cloning...

Clonnig of the human race can lead to many unforseen issues and potentially damage our gentic history… we could be ‘stained’ forever with the dirty hand of gentic greed… On the other hand we may create a world of diversity removing many of the diseases already a danger to our species… Should we stop all clonning whatsoever or should it be monitored more closely to stop rogue territories and laboratories from clonning human beings.. Do we want to dabble with our genetics? Something we cannot change back once altered

just heard on the BBC

and whatever happened to those to people who claimed to have live births of cloned babies last year? one was a cult and the other was a doctor. there was huge media coverage, but no one bothered to follow up on the claims...anyone have any info on what happened to those ppl?

I read about that as well.. but still there are huge speculations about the claim.. the baby girl Eve was born on 26th Dec 2002 but its not confirmed with any independent sources…

well i dono

my gut reaction is to say NO CLONING

but, come to think of it, when the aeroplane was initially made, some ppl said those who travel on it r gona become kafirs...

there's always been resistance to any kind of new scientific development and who knows what benefits cloning has...

i need to read up more on this issue to make up my mind

I know one of the cults that claimed they cloned humans did it as a prank to obtain publicity. They finally admitted it a few months ago and admitted they got many more members this way. These are the same people who believe that human beings are clones of Aliens.

As far as cloning is concerned, I'm sure it will create many dangerous mutations in the long run.

as far as genetic issues go, how much difference is there between dangers of genetic issues due to cloning as compared to genetic issues due to marrying cousins ..which seems to be quite a common trend in pakistan among some groups although declining

hahahaha, I’ve heard such statements as well about new developments. :hehe:

I find them very odd, don’t know what your stance is.

It’s so typical to hear this from ppl…such statements reflect actually some type of envy towards the people who made the invention.
irem, you know, my guess would be that actually people from the Arab/Desi countries will profit a lot from cloning and DNA-engineering in general: because in these countries marrying within the family is normal routine, so there is a higher incidence of autosomal recessive diseases in these populations: and it are these diseases which will profit a lot from DNA-engineering.
