Yeh appnya kiya hai?

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

Haanji... the moral here is this: "don't mess with someone who just fixed your website" after you put it down while trying to install something that's not meant for it. And have never made a backup of it.

^-- I know... it maybe not is professional and not my style.. But that's the only way to get my money :)

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

If it works....go for it.....

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

I have put it back online for now.. mahool made me feel bad more than I already was.. so
I sent email to owners and site admins. Lets see if they reply. But I changed the admin passwords, and am only one with access now. And can put it down again when I want.

:lifey: Do char paisay kam kama lo… par peshay ka naam badnam ho to bura lagata hia…

Keep your work documented and always make contract… Baqi jo hota hai so hota hia… par I like your idea of keeping admin rights to yourself… at least ukay sar par talwar to latki rahay gi… :hbk:

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

kyoun ji, koi haraam ki kamaai thori hai.. :naraz: khoon paseenay ki kamaai hai
I know, even though it is not such a huge amount, and it only took me a few minutes fix. And then just run a few check. But still it’s the principle that matters.

It is documented, and I have all the proofs. It’s just that the guy managed to disappear and make use of my trusting nature.
Still I had made sure, he would not be able to run away and secured my way thru a back door in case, something like this happened

Now, to tell you the guy I was dealing with is not the actual site owner, he was only hired by the site owner/ admins.
I had not initial contact with the site admins.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

^^Happened to me numerous times.....Had the contract and everything....no pay.....after everything failed I left to Allah and considered it sadka for my family (thats what I told the owners who were Pakistani and muslims)

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

Did project once for someone and never got paid. Now I strictly work on my own projects only or if I volunteer for some open source protect.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

^Me too....Closed the business that I started because of this.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

I got my money :chai:
No reply since yesterday from anyone, short while ago I had put the site offline again, which they must have noticed now. And their middleman came to ask me on Skype. So then it was handled within a few minutes. Still offering me more projects

That’s too bad. Though the system on all major Freelancer sites is very good now, and you are guaranteed your payments for work done. I only lost money for non-paid jobs only once or twice. That was also only when we agreed payment outside of the Escrow system. So if you stick to the rules, then you will never lose your money for a job done.
Though, if there is a dispute then it’s a different story. You will have to prove your point then, if it comes to an arbitration. Happened to me once, and I lost the case even though I was right. And the job as done as required.

How do you volunteer?

That’s too bad. Why did you give it all up because of one setback?

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

A Professional must have to know how to get money on time and bound their clients technically... i experienced the same one time that's teach me how to control the things instead to shutdown.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

I know! That's what I did at first. When nothing was done then I had to go for the drastic step of a shut down. And you see, it was sorted within a few minutes after that.

PS: looking at the level of access I had on the server etc, It was the best option. Otherwise if they found another prey and that person could have traced and roll back my security, and I would have lost everything. So that was the best option for me looking at the circumstances of this particular situation.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

Anyway.. to add this. It didn't end up in bad taste. we're still friends. And the guy is apologetic and all.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

Wasn’t one instance it was constant. Out of the 50 jobs I only got paid for about 25. I wasn’t going through the web for these jobs. It was face to face so there wasn’t anyone that I could have taken this to. The only place would be small claims court and I don’t have the time and the energy to pursue that.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

You can try everything you know but still there are people out there that will con you no matter what.

There isn't much you can do when they give you a check and expect you to turn the site over. Out of the goodness of you will turn it over to them and then they will go and stop payment.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

Yikes, that is awful. How can you let this happen to yourself? I mean what kind of people were you dealing with? All Desi’or Arabs :smack:

I have a rules, not or at least avoid dealing with Desi’s and Arabs. As much as possible. Because that’s when it can go wrong and it did.

I can remember only 3 or 4 instances in all these years, that I was not paid, well not paid in full for the work done.

1.) It was when there was a dispute between the 2 of us, and the job was cancelled even before it was finished. But the customer also got nothing in the end. No partial code or anything was delivered. (This was an Arab)

Then another was when the client didn’t pay me in full for the declared hours but deducted some (about 15 or 20%). (This was a Spanish guy)

3.) Again an Arab here, again he didn’t pay me 100% of the amount agreed. Which was on paper and agreed between both of us. After completion he refused to pay around 10% of the total amount. Even though there were no complaints or disputes or anything of that sort. He was even willing to work with me for another project. But didn’t pay me full for the 1st one. There was no way I could convince him or make him realize of the agreement we had initially. (bhains ke aagay been bajanay wali baat hai)

Then there were 2 more, small incidents and disputes after initial agreement not worth mentioning. And got cancelled after that. So nothing I lost or they got away with.

That’s all the instances I can remember. Other than that I never had any problems. All of these were online clients and never had personal meeting with any of them!

Most my clients I worked with once, chose to stay and work with me on a long-term. One such is who I have been working with for the past 3 years or so. Another few reaching a year now.

Re: Hum se Panga, Nai hai Changa

I trust people a lot and pay for it in the end.

It was desi, arab, gora all of them.
