‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in U.S. Top 20

Sooraj Barjatya’s film “Hum Saath Saath Hain” has broken box-office records by becoming the biggest opening Hindi film in U.S. history. The fact that the film opened in 59 theaters in the U.S. over the Diwali weekend was a major factor in its early success, said distributor Eros International’s head of marketing, Behram Shahparast. “Hum Saat Saath Hain” is currently at number 20 on the U.S. domestic box-office charts, according to Variety, with $651,575 in box-office receipts as of Nov. 8. The film was released on Nov. 5. “The film is coming from Rajshri Productions, a long-standing and reputable house, and it’s been surrounded by positive hype as well,” Shahparast told the California-based India-West. “The film’s opening weekend was the biggest by far – what “Taal” did in seven days, “Hum Saath Saath Hain” has just about done in three.”
