definitely hug females on both sides..and just say salam and nod respectfully to the men...unless they are your chachoo or mamoo..you can hug them

I hug people...not men though...I dont know why...its been ingrained in me not to so I dont. I just shake their hands...thats it.

Hugs hugs! All the elders and cousins! Females get kisses on the cheeks too.. but I don’t like aunty’s kissing me and staining my cheeks with their lipstick!

I usually hug my aunties and female cousins.. with uncles and male cousins, I usually just say salaam & ask how they are etc.. it’s just always been that way for me and so I like it

Stick to hugging the girls only and small kids (7-8 max age). The reasoning is that they really are na-mahram, and the thinking of your father's family probably goes that if you think it's ok to hug your cousins, then you think it's OK to hug other guys.

Please don't justify why a wrongdoing according to the the Qur'an is OK. Just because you don't understand it and you think your "intentions are pure" doesn't make it right. If you think it's socially acceptable, that is up to you to decide, but strictly speaking it is not religiously acceptable and not right in islam.

Eg. Wearing perfume for women is not allowed in Islam, but say someone felt like they sweated a lot and need some to cover it, so they put it on. Their intentions would be "pure" because it wasn't meant to attract someone, but as they pass a man, he smells it and turns around and looks to where the smell is coming from, he sees her and his gaze lingers on her a bit as he studies her. Pure intention = not pure outcome.

theres sum peeople we cud hug even though they are my 1st cousins cousins cousin..that doesnt even make us related..however we dont hug them 1st cousins..i guess it depends on the reltaionship you have with them recepient..lmao

i hug my mami give her a kiss and then sit on top of her:D it's pure love
and just hugs the females and attack the lil kids for a hug. the males get a Asalamolaikum and my mamo gets a handshake

If u got to Islam, Islam dont allow you to even touch na mehram, you can even touch your sister or mother as well. :)

cousines are far away..

but if you will today, you can hug them on cheeks, except your wife dont try to kiss anyone :) its my advice...
