Which would you prefer for personal home use laptop and why? or if there’s some other brand you could recommend. thanks =)

I used both and I think HP is more solid with reliable hardware . But Dell is cheap and hardware is not so good .

How about Toshiba? what I don’t like about it is that it’s bulky though I have never used it..

and what about Sony? is it really worth all that money or is it overrated?

Masi, what would be the primary use of that laptop?

I just bought Toshiba A505 from Best Buy . Best deal at least for now . Btw I’ll be using it as development machine / General purpose . I liked it so far .

aaho, I currently have dell.. will be giving this away and thought I’ll have some other machine for a change but not sure which one to get or maybe stick to dell again..

TLK 1,2 and 4.. not much of a gaming person.

Naami, HP vs Toshiba.. which one you like better?

I had a dell and had a very bad experience with it.Then bought Toshiba worse then Dell now may be I 'll go with HP.

I repair laptops, computers (Desktop, servers), mobiles and sat decoders for my hobby.. I have 2 HP (one nc model and one dv model, nc model has some standby problem and dv model has motherboard and hard disk transfer problem) and One Samsung R55+ I have repaired a lot of HP due to motherboard problem where as I have never heard problem with dell. I am thinking to get dell or may be IBM soon.

I have worked with dell laptops at my work place before and never heard of any huge problem with them, sometimes drivers compatibility is a factor that people think is a big problem for then but you can cure it by looking for driver updates or applying generic drivers.

i have had hp pavilion dv2000 for 3 years now, apart from buying a new 12cell battery for it ( that too 2 months ago ), it has never and i mean never given me any problem. I’d go with Hp any day.
