Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
Hi, I at first used the safe method and it did not work out for me as i got pregnant really quickly with my daughter within 2 months of getting married. The method is unrelaible and you have to know your body very well. You have to know when your menstrual cycle is and on which days you are most fertile. This can be difficult especially if you have irregular periods. The risk of pregnancy is higher with this choice.
I have an IUD which works out for me as we are not looking to have any more kids for a little while 2 little ones keep me busy lol. This will work for 5 years I had it inserted last year and you can take it out any time before if you want to. Why do you not want to take pills? There is a contraceptive patch available too.
Is there a gynacologist near that you can visit and see what is right for you. Good luck and congrats on your wedding hope everything goes great for you inshallah
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
There is nothing like a safe period or rhythm shythm. Just remember to use something.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
thank you momof2angels and niksik , i find it hard to visit a gynecologist for consultation before marriage living in Pakistan :( i am scared of taking pills from the start of my marriage. withdrawal method and wrapping it up cannot be done everytime thats why i thought of safe period method.. just want to delay pregnancy for 4to6months... i am so getting a IUD after that
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
I know a girl who got pregnant TWICE because of that safe method
(you would have thought she would learn after the first time), it doesn’t work… your best bet is condoms.
I don’t see why you can’t visit an OB/GYN before your wedding, I took my 12 years old sis-in-law to the Gynae in Pakistan cuz she was having issue with her period … its not like you have to announce it to the world, just go discreetly. Maybe go with a friend who’s already married.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
What is the safe method and what is “rhythm shythm”?
EDIT: Google is my friend. What the falafal, of course this is not a birth control method.
A woman can still get pregnant: preseminal fluid is released before ejaculation.
I second MIA; go see your doctor to seek advice.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
As far as I know, rythm method is abstaining when you know you are fertile and doing it when you you're not fertile..... you have to calculate your cycle and all.
Its called "Rhythm method", shythm was just nikki being sarcastic :p
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
Ufff
no wonder when i typed “rhythm shythm” into Google, nothing came up…what can i say…roza lag raha hai. ![]()
So the rhythm method is based on having intercourse when a woman is considered “least fertile”…
but there is hardly a day in the menstrual cycle during which some women are not really fertile…so you’re limiting your sexual activity to…zilch? Ok..![]()
I think that if people are serious about birth control, they need to seek medical advice and select a more reliable method.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
after an eight years of affair and waiting and wanting to get married... if I get pregnant right away... its not what i wanted..
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
well take the C.....!! what other option do u have ?
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
its not impossible but you do need to be vigilant and aware of your own body.
if you use ovulation predictor kits from now on, you can tell when you are ovulating. you have to avoid having sex on roughly the 5 days before and a few days after that and you should be ok with avoiding pregnancy. i’m just not sure that opk’s are available in pakistan though.

otherwise, you can probably monitor it through your cervical mucus but again, it takes time and you have to be aware of your body.

another method is through charting your basal body temperature. use a digital thermometer, and take your temp every morning at the same before you do anything- don’t get up, don’t speak, nothing. wake up to an alarm, keep the thermometer by your bedside, and stick it in. a digital thermometer is usually very handy. then you note it down. you’ll see a pattern emerging, again over time, and you can avoid your fertile days this way. however with bbt’s, you will only know after you have ovulated, so again, you need to do this for a while before you see a pattern emerging.

sites like fertilityfriend.com will help you chart your bbts and will tell you when you are approaching your fertile period over time.
all of these above methods are used by women when they want to get pregnant, so i can see them easily being used when you want to avoid getting pregnant too.
and in the end, the more you know about your body and your cycles, the better it is, anyway.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
Gosh sgc .. they will be newerly married, do u think they can avoid sex for a wholeeee week (think of terms of being just married and hormones are high) and then the week that she is having her periods, leaves them about 2 weeks of enjoyment in a month.
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
^ hey i'm just sharing what i know- whether she goes through with it or not is her bidness :p
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
Scare your husband-to-be about having kids immediately, he will take the necessary precautions (i.e. condoms) himself if he has any sense :D
Re: hows ur experience about safe period/ rythm
wraping it up is so far the safest option to me... is it true its not that fun when wrapped?
