Its a known thing in the muslim world that our names greatly affect us .. Do you believe its true? have you felt that your name has made a different in you, your personality, your life , your thought processes?

I do and wouldn't want to name my name here but I think it is a very harsh name.. All the meanings come back as strong, stealth, hardworking but all the girls I know with my name have had really hard times thrust upon them

Can change my name islamically without changing it on deed pole?

my name means something like a loyal or trustworthy and another meaning i found was a premature baby.
i can be immature.dont know about premature.

Actually yes it is true. My name reflects me a lot eh!. Meaning of my name is sher..so ya i am sher by nature. Not afraid and very daring.

I certainly believe that giving your child a meaningful, honourable, preferably Islamic name is very important but I don't think that alone shapes our personalities. It takes a whole set of factors like the way you are raised, your circle of friends, what you are taught in school etc. I mean it wouldn't surprise me if I saw a guy named Muhammad boozing away in the pub.
