So I came cross an article about a 13 y.o. boy who is going to attempt climbing the Everest. If he makes it he will be the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest. He wants to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents and has already climbed four. Mt. Mckinely is suppose to be a harder climb and he has already climbed it so he is ready for Mt. Everest.
What do you guys think is he too young to do this and is he really old enough to understand the implications?
EDIT: So, I googled him and he was able to climb the Everest successfully and is going to do his last summit in Dec. Here is his website http://www.jordanromero.com/
13 yo boy climbed the Everest
Apart from the Acute Mountain sickness and other associated medical conditions, i cannot come up with any other implications deterring him from climbing.
He may have higher level of energy than a 30 year old man. In contrast, when it comes to decision making, I would listen to a 30 something than a teen. As long as he is with a group and he is not the head of that group, it might be ok
I think its pretty awesome though that he wanted to/did this. Seems like he knew well what it would take and trained for it but i doubt most 13 y.o. kids are ready for such bug goals or maybe it's just my perception. It takes a lot of dedication and training to be able to do something like this so yea good on him.
