Been there, done that.
You respect that he has other interests, and keep the relationship platonic. It doesn't work? Avoid him and move on. He confronts you, let him know how you feel, and then deal with it when he gets all weird on you.
Oh dear, I am beginning to sound more and more like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Maybe you girls are right - I'm single and bitter. :(
