a non-muslim person of opposite gender that you can’t shake hands with him/her ?
Ofcourse you can’t immediately say the following hadith " It is better that a nail be driven in a person’s head then his touching the palm of a na-mehram"

Re: How would you politely tell....?
1) put your hands in your pockets!
2) Carry something in your hands so you dont have to shake
3) nod your head!
4) wear a hat and touch the brow of it...

Re: How would you politely tell....?
there was a religious african muslim at my office years ago, he would come to work dressed like a sheik except he wore a topi and not teh usual arab head gear. anyway he wouldn't shake hands with women, and i remember during introductions, he frankly told me, i'm sorry but my religion forbids me (dunn remember his exact words). i felt a bit weird coz it was a techie environment and i was the only girl there at the time and so i felt singled out kinds... but i was like, ummm ok.
but otherwise he was really well mannered and professional, and other than the hand shaking bit, we had no issues working together.
Re: How would you politely tell....?
Even before they extend thier hands, you could bow just a little, to show your repect, like japanese people do. It works quite well in my case
I used that word bow for the lack of better word. I dont want to star ta new arguement of bowing in front of Humans vs Allah
Re: How would you politely tell....?
don't say a single word rather wear gloves:)
On a serious note, from a female point of view and talking about etiquettes, aren't females the one supposed to extend their hand out to shake first or does it not matter?????
On even a more serious note, how will you tell baysharam bayhayya Muslim larkay that it's not appropriate to shake hand with opposite sex in Islam when they wanna shake hands with you even after knowing that you are Muslim too?????

The same way you tell baysharam bayhayya Muslim larkiaN that it's not appropriate to shake other body parts while walking
Re: How would you politely tell....?
^ and how do you politely tell it to them???
Re: How would you politely tell....?

No I was telling you to tell the boys the way you tell those girls. You call yourself conservative girl, you probably ineteract with girls more then boys. You must be telling some girls to behave/dress up properly
As a matter of fact, the most politetss way of telling these things is to keep it with in your gender. Boys should tell boys, girls should tell girls
One thing I want to clarify, though. When a muslim guy extend his hand to shake, sometime, its because he is being ppolite and dont knwo how to behave otherwise. Unlike what some girls think, boys dont get any sexual pleasure out of shaking a hand with girls

Re: How would you politely tell....?
uh.. i'm tempted to ask - is it really?
... the following hadith " It is better that a nail be driven in a person's head then his touching the palm of a na-mehram"

yeah shaking hands is so kaffir type activity, I go directly for a hug in social situations. and of course a kiss on the cheek is just the proper thign to do otherwise.
cant ignore common etiquettes u know.
I mean one has to be mindful of etiquettes
Re: How would you politely tell....?
Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and when you know that you are going to be introduced to some one new or will be greeting some one, wet your hands immediately and say "i would shake hands but my hands are wet sorry"

How are you so much sure about my feelings.
What other feelings of mine are you aware of
How do you know I am not like normal men.
Do you think about me a lot, now a days. Is that the reason you know so much about me
