When it comes to in-laws...Ive got a rule for myself: I cant control anything they do or think...just my own actions and reactions.
That being said, your job is to try your best. Do your best regardless of how mean or nasty they are, I hope they arent. Be nice and accomodating. As for being a chatterbox, Ive met very very very nice women who talk A LOT. There is nothing wrong with being lively, its the content that matters. Dont get so carried away in your talking that you start to comment unnecessarily or offend people.
In the end, its better to be safe then sorry. If I were you, I would try not to talk so much and watch what I say.

sometimes when you talk too much you end up putting your foot in your mouth. So be careful.

I lived with my in-laws for 6 mnths and learnt ALOT on the way..
- always say yes, but do what pleases you!
- you dont have to necessarily agree with how they think or the way they do things but just telling them that you do builds your respect in their eyes..
- only speak when you are spoken to
- if theres an argument in family where your husband is involved.. let him deal with it.. dont go out and start telling them whose right and whose wrong.. its his family and he knws how to deal with them.. so dont get into the whole "macho-woman" mode.
- sometimes you have to deal with people that you might not like that much.. you will come across people who talk about you behind your back and those who might not like you either but dnt let that get to you.. as much as i know it might..
- ALWAYS have a SMILE on your FACE!!!! FIL's love smiling bahu's!!
- your MIL has done things her way for years.. and if you go in there and start changing things around to suit urself believe me it wont be appreciated.. wait til you have your own place.. otherwise jo jaise para hua hai.. waise hi rehne do!!!!
