If he,
- comes from a family that would make a huge fuss about whom he is getting married to,
- does not have the ability to convince his parents about whom he wants to spend his life with, and
- is seriously considering the emotional blackmail from his parents,
you’d rather think over marrying him in the first place.
The saying is perhaps outdated now, since most of the girls would have a problem if he DOESN’T want to leave his parents after getting married.
