The New York Times is great for descriptive reading and writing.

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

Yes indeed. Newspaper reading is a must.

The internet is filled with blogs, which are just brain darts. But the OP - ed pages of newspapers are an excellent start.

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

True dat. ^Which columnists do you follow in op-ed’s? Tom Friedman? Maureen Dowd?

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

As a few members said already: newspaper. Not just any local newspaper. **New York Times **is what I’m talking about. I read that back in high school as a SAT booster.

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

Stopped reading Friedman after his support for Iraq war. Maureen Down is funny. Like her op eds.

Don’t get to read ny times much. We get wall street journal. But for obvious reasons I stay away from OP ed page. Except for an article once in a blue moon that is apolitical and purely abt the economy or the market.

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

The subject of the composition doesn’t matter as long as you’re gaining the structural / vocabularial aspect of it.

Summarize what you read.
Interact with words; instead of just reading them in your head.

Re: how to write/speak descriptively

A quick fix is explain things via examples, analogies and stories. This is our civilizations’ way of explaining things. Make sure those examples etc are from day to day life , more people are able to connect to the examples better they will understand your point.

And in longer run, try to observe things to more minute details. More you observe, more you can write, words will just come.

Third, stop too much use of whatsapp, twitter or FB. Those damning things kill ur vocab nd mk u luk stooooopid.
