"How to throw a teammate under the bus" by Mohammad Yousuf

Re: "How to throw a teammate under the bus" by Mohammad Yousuf

two points:

  • people say that a captain like Ponting wouldn't call out his players in public. didn't he publicly humiliate Lee in India? and Lee is a magnificent player, a champion. I love watching that guy bowl. amazing player.... he's done far more for the Aussie team than Butt ever will for the Pak team and yet Ponting didn't spare him.

  • there is a difference between being a lazy/selfish/slow runner and being a bad judge of a run. Butt is the former and Yousuf is the latter.

anyone who's seen Yousuf over the years will tell you that Yousuf is a horrible judge of a run but he isn't a slow/lazy runner (or at least wasn't when he was younger). when he got his calling right and batted with people who understood his running (Younis and Malik being two good examples), then, he would run the opposition ragged. he put on some really good partnerships with Malik in the past a big part of which was stealing runs and converting 1.5 runs into 2 runs and 2.5s into 3s.

Butt, on the other hand, is a slow/lazy/selfish/bad runner. he is plain slow. had horrible fitness levels for the longest time... and probably still does. add on bad judgment and you've got the worst runner in cricket world today.
