i tried to take a picture of a starry sky as well ... and yea you've got to hit the best picture by trial and error, using various exposure settings ...
i was in a park with no lights when i was taking my pictures ... my problem was that at a distance was a canteen .. and it had a very teeny weeny light bulb ... with a slightly long exposure my pictures would come out as if it were daylight ... although it was completely dark ... but the light bulb grew to being as bright as a sun :(
but a tripod is a must!
I took the following picture at 11.30 pm, in Swat (I believe it was either Marghazar or Malamjhabba), it was a full moon. The settings were 1.4f and i left the shutter open for over 2 mnts. ANNDDD I didn’t have a tripod, the camera was handheld. The camera was this 100 yr old German model by a company called Voigtlander. I think I still have the print somewhere, but unfortunately have lost the negative.
You can see the stars in the sky and in the long exposure the stars created streaks as the earth moved.
nothings more khoobsurat then the sky at night, for me anywayz. I can just watch the stars an moon for ages and never get bored...I dont know I guess I loved watching them from when I was a kid
