For being such a meanie, now you have to buy some summer clothes for your wife as well!
Oh, and if you really want to get out of shopping, tell her it’s going to be a very cold summer - winter toques will be needed

give her a budget
get all excited and say okay, wha do we really need to get
how many shorts or dresses or tops
and then set a budget that you yourself think is low, say well lets look at discount places, or maybe we get one or two things from some snazzy kids place and rest generic stuff from a discount place, she may say budget is low and you mutually raise it a bit.
now let her go crazy in those limits..
thats the only thing that works for me, or an outright ban until she gives me an inventory of what the kids already have and why something is needed, but then i end up being the bad guy.
