my dau is 23 months old mashallah which is all most 2 years inshallah. how should i stop her. its so hard i try not to give it to her but she wants it. is there any gud tips or tried tips how to stop breastfeeding.

does she take solids? if so try n occupy her with food, how about some milkshake? i breastfed my so for 17 months MashAllah n eventually just reduced the amount of times over a few weeks n then stopped altogether.

mashallah.. thats great that youve been able to to that...

a mumani of mine just put salt on her nipple cuz her son just wouldnt let go... he stopped cold turkey :D

or u can be nicer and do what sweetu said... gradually decrease the amount of feeds until she lets go totally. feed her solids and stuff her to the max.. then offer ure nipple.. chances are.. she wont latch on cuz she is full.

i tried weaning my kids off gradually, but they wanted to be breastfed just for the comfort, i actually put haldi on myself, that really put the poor kids off :LB:

I tried 'the gradually reducing nursing frequency n duration" and it seemed to be working at first. After a few days he only wanted it more than usual.. it's like when something is withdrawn from them, they want it even more. Eventually I had to go cold turkey. I used this really bitter tasting herbal thing called musabbir on his snack and after 4 very tough days, he was weaned off completely!

Go cold turkey. Just don't offer it to her anymore. First day will be the toughest, second not so much, by third or forth she should be weaned off.

What do u do about ur own discomfort that accompanies it ?

^ first day is the worst and it gets better.

You can pump a little bit to ease the comfort but not too much. Just enough to reduce the discomfort... if you pump too much your supply won't decrease.

Also if you use cabbage leaves, that reduces engorgement and lessens your supply.

You can use a pump so they get use to a bottle and slowly start supplementing a couple bottles with formula.
