Hi, all! I’m in Istanbul right now, and all of a sudden, the camera started giving a very audible click (like a shutter release sound on an old fashioned camera). Kind of embarassing when you’re trying to be unobtrusive and snap a pic…) Then it just stopped making the sound and was totally silent when snapping a pic. Now I don’t know what I hit to make it start or stop, but it is back to audibly clicking again whenever I take a picture.
Can anyone tell me where in settings I control this? It is probably the same as in the S3…any advice??
Just turn off the master volume, mute it or set ur phone to vibrate only.
Or, under settings of the camera, scroll down to shutter sound and turn it off (when you click on camera and click on the little wheel thingie icon and scroll down)
That did it!! When the ringer volume is all the way off, the camera is silent, too! Thanks, Niksik!
There is so much you can do with these Samsung smartphones as they are, why mess with rooting? It's not like you can't get a nice legal free app to do every little thing you can possibly think of...not like poor iPhoney people who can only do what Apple lets them, unless they jailbreak their little iPhones (so sad) ;)

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!. Samsung can do so many things, that iPhone can't. OH MY GOD you can turn the shutter noise down AND OFF. HOW UNBELIVEABLE? OH MY GOD. I gots to tell my all friends.
If you know what you’re doing, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with rooting. But you gotta know what you’re doing. Often times, while browsing the Google Play store, I come across cool apps that work only with rooted devices. So that could be one advantage. And then if you’re a developer or an IT buff, you could totally enjoy the experience of unleashing new possibilities.
But I’m glad that worked! Hope you’re having a great trip and aren’t getting bichro-ed from your fiancé :D!
You sounded like the aunty jee next door…that’s how she reacted when she saw my new pressure cooker !
