How to say Salam.
Most of the time what worries me is the lack of Salams i get. I mean its a duty for every muslim to greet one another with salam. And its not hard to do it, infact you get barkaat, as weel as sawaab for replying to a salam, or saying one. So what is the big deal, why has “whatsup” replaced Salam. I mean whatsup is not even a recognized word! its only a recognized greeting.
For those who don’t know how to say salam, I have arranged for a little tutorial.
STEP 1
The pronounciation of Assalamalikum, is simple. Most of you are aquainted with saying " aye Sala kidher jaraha hai". Alright, so what we want to extract from here is the “aye Sala”. Now lets work on this for a while, for the next 3 minutes repeat this “aye sala”.
STEP 2
ok, now what we want to do is take the above and combine it with the rest of the pronounciation. Take that “Aye Sala” and add and “M” at the end, and pronounce it like this " AyeSalaM". Plus get rid of the “Y”. Therefore you should be pronouncing it “ASALAM” by now. Practise for a while if you don’t get the hang of it.
STEP 3
Now what we want to do is learn the “ALEYKUM” part of it. So this is what we do. Most of you are aquainted with the word “AREYY” and “COME” , alright, so now imagine you’re calling someone, and you’re nagging them, and you’re like “AREEEEEEYYYY COMEEEEEE here”. Just take away teh “here” so you’re left with “AREY COME”.
Now all you do is replace the “R” in “AREY” with a “L” . so you have the following:
“ALEY COME”
Secondly, remove the C and replace it with a K, and the O with U.
So you have this " ALEY KUME".
STEP 4
Now mix all of them together. “ASALAM” (refer to step 1 & 2) and “ALEY KUME” (refer to step 3).
basically now just put them together, “ASALAM ALEY KUME”.
There, for the basic part of it you’re done. go try it on a muslim brother / sister (note*: try it on a muslim sister only if you have good intentions. Cuz I know half of you on very well!
There. Now have fun, try it out here and there!
And when you get the hang of this atleast, learn the rest of the salam!
Assalamalikum,
Umair.
