I drive a car to and from university and it seems like everyone wants a free ride. I have to pick and drop off my siblings at school and then go to university so I have a busy day but no one seems to realize that. How do I let them off politely yet firmly?
Re: How to say no?
Who is 'everyone'? (other than your siblings)
Just say you don't have time.
Re: How to say no?
Yeah, who's everyone?

Friends.
I do say that but they ask again maybe a few days later. They try to be sneaky, haha.

I may have misunderstood the issue - waiting for OP to clarify...
Re: How to say no?
There is no way to tell them politely yet firmly enough so that they won't keep asking. If you do find a way let me know............5+ years later and I'm still driving everyone, everywhere.

How do I politely refuse my friends that I will not drop you off at your preferred destination?
Re: How to say no?
Use the mommy and daddy excuse! Tell them your parents won't let you drive any non-family members because it's an insurance risk and just say no. Works like a charm!
Re: How to say no?
Well, right now my legit excuse is that I can’t pick you up in the morning because I drop my siblings off at school and I can’t drop you after university ends because my siblings home-time starts by the time I reach the school. That’s a legit excuse but my friends are like, “I’ll catch you one day” ![]()

OOH! I'll use that one. Thanks
Re: How to say no?
You could also tell them that if they want to drive along, that they have to either come to your house at a certain time (the time that you leave) or that they gather at a certain place in your route to university, so that you can pick them up en route. Will save time.
Re: How to say no?
"I'll catch you one day" sounds like you have given excuses rather than reasons.
Try the insurance reason and see how it goes.

Is it completely out of your way? My friends and I used to do that all the time in school...give each other rides. Its one of those things you do in school :)
Re: How to say no?
charge them a hefty fee. :)
Re: How to say no?
Instead of making excuses, why don't you try honesty and say exactly that you can't always be their chauffeur. Once in a while, it's okay but dropping siblings off everyday and then friends takes up a lot more time and frankly it can be mentally tiring if you're in an urban area with lots of traffic.
