Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

The way I do is to take the boiled egg and place it in cold water to cool it down. And then I take a spoon and tap it all over the egg so it forms cracks over the entire surface of the egg...so the shell peels off quickly.

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

^ I shoukd try that. Typically the shell takes a generous portion of egg with it.

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

add 1-1.5 tsp of salt while boiling, it wont take any portion of egg and peeling will be easy...

This as well.

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

I didn't realize how many people have difficulty peeling boiled eggs until I saw all the instructional videos.....

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

Thanks. Will try.

For those who forgot to do this will there be random salt addition / generation?

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

Which begs the question for the experimentally inclined - shoukd the process involve

1) add 1.5 tsp salt while boiling
AND
2) do the cold water tap spoon approach as prescribed by some poster.

Much obliged.

After 1.5 min of boil - was distracted with Sangakara batting - add 0.2g NaCl
Solution stops boiling. Then in 40 sec the first bubbles appear.
Let boil 1.5 min - this time by design.
Turn off gas stove.

Take vessel to sink. Add 70 ml tepid water. Pour out 140 ml water. With each addition tap water gets colder. Do 5 such additions and pourings.

Re: How to Quickly Peel a Boiled Egg in a Glass of Water!!

Take tea spoon. Tap at 5 different places on egg. Remove shell. Record results.
Repeat for all 7 eggs.

Result:
6 eggs full success. The joy was almost same as watching a Misbah defensive stroke.

One egg- some white got stuck with shell. Gentle peeling allowed clean removal of white. Call this 0.8 out of 1 success.

Overall score: 6.8/7
Previous score: 3.5/7

Conclusion: Proposed procedure worked.
