How to play .avi, video clips from computer on a dvd?

I have a bunch of kids shows on my laptop, a dvd burner on my laptop but can’t figure out how to burn those files on the dvd so they can be played on the dvd player to my tv. is that possible?

Yes it's possible. Download WINAVI and use it to burn from your laptop straight onto a cd-rw disk.

You need to convert the .avi to dvd format file (which is .vob). There are plenty of softwares out there that do it. Google convert .avi to dvd

then once the .avi has been converted to a dvd folder, you want to open up the folder and you'll find two folders within it, one is named AUDIO_TS and another VIDEO_TS. Drag them into your cd/dvd burning software, and burn them as Data.

They should now play on any home dvd player. You end up with an actual dvd.

amelie you need a software that allows you to burn movies on a DVD without the converting step. I'm using Nero, and it works great, but it's not a free software. you can find free DVD burning softwares on download.com

Bro with WINAVI you don't need to convert the .avi file prior to burning it onto a cd-rw disk.

If she wants Nero I can get it for her FREE. :DBut Winavi does the job.

Use Nero 7 or 8
Burn a video DVD, it will convert automatically a lot of formats to DVD format
