Re: how to make

1 cup chana daal
1 onion
2-3 cloves garlic (chopped)
2-3 sliced pieces ginger
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp haldee
1/2 tsp lal mirch powder
2-3 banana peppers (optional, these are light green colored, resemble hari mirch but are NOT hot)

  1. slice onion in pateela and oil enough to fry to golden brown on med. heat. when onion are halfway to the golden color, add the garlic and ginger.

  2. keep bhooning/ mixing

  3. when the onion is a good golden brownish color, add the salt, haldee, mirch and banana peppers (whole). mix together.

  4. dump the 1 cup chana daal in, add about 1/2 to 1 cup water, put stove on low-med heat and cover with lid. gently mix every 3-4 min. your daal should take about 15-25 min to gal (cook thoroughly) then your DONE!!!!

hope this helps! written out it looks long, but when doing it, its simple and easy.

Re: how to make

Fry onions, add ginger garlic, add tomatoes .... add the usual spices salt, chilli powder, haldi , some lemon juice ..... add daal... add a few cups of water .. cover and let it cook on low heat... stir occasionally.

When its nearly done, add green chillies and dhaniya and a bit of garam masala. Dal is done.

Re: how to make

If u are amking it dry, to make it a lil more spicy 'masalehdaar', add i teaspoon amchoor. It will taste yum. But if u add water after putting in amchhor or cover it, the daal will turn out totally blackish. So be careful

Thanku for the recipe...
