sons will be their mother’s sweethearts since childhood, how does a person become best friends with her future or, in the foreseeable future, present MIL/FIL?
pointers from successfully married people to the single ones about what they did to be best buds with a son’s first love-his mother let’s face it she is
for men, how to be chummy with the wife’s mother/father, it ain’t one sided
the number one problem with husband, his mother and his wife triangle is jealousy. if husband is showing love towards mom, wife is jealous. and if husband is spending time with wife, mom is jealous. the important angle is husband. if he's smart he can balance the two very nicely. in my case my husband knew from day 1 that he is the bridge between my mil and me. and treated us both on an even scale. and so no jealousy and no hate relationship between me and my mil. we aren't best friends, but we get along very nicely. she respects my privacy and i hers.

I shared this story before but it might help in this situation.
I have an indian soap opera type MIL to be
I am addicted to gym and eating healthy. I am really toned and have nice, toned, muscular biceps (not too big just not all super thin.. basically medium) so my MIL to be thinks I am fat because I do not look anorexic like her other 2 DILs (I loveeee the other 2 they are amazing but they seriously starve themselves all the time) so she told me to stop eating cheese which is funny because I realllyy do not like cheese. lol being the rebel that I am, I have decided to make her a cheese cake for her birthday hahahah I cant wait!!! ohh the irony.
This might not get me brownie points with being her best DIL but it certainly makes me happy hahha
Well, all the melodramatic stuff aside, my MIL to be is a great woman and I respect her very much. So, I just be polite towards her. I do not have to live with her after marriage so I am not really concerned about any drama in the future. I am really shy around her so she does like me. I know her intensions are good at all times because she is very religious and never says anything bad about anyone. The only thing is that she is very conservative and I am not but around her I try not to say things that might offend her.
