try using firm hairspray :)
Re: How to Make Your BackCombed Hair Stay?
Try using root-lifter and hair spray before back-coming the hair. That is what works for me, but then again it all depends on the texture of your hair. If you have thick-stranded/heavy hair, you might have a hard time getting your hair all poofed up. Also, make sure you start teasing/back-combing at the very root and working your way up. If the root isn't back-combed and put in place properly, your hair will fall flat after just a short while.

u can try sectioning the hair in to 2 parts at the crown n and tease the section that would be underneath and then pin that so its poofed up n place the other section of the hair on top so that you cant see the pins....
hmm i dunno if ive explained that properly.. but thatz wt cn wrk for me sumtyms :s

first apply mousse in your hair and blow dry it to add fluff ,and then tease it ,(you will have to less tease )then you can style as you want no hair spray or whatsoever and backcombing will be stay longer.

I no longer back comb my hair but I use a 'bumpits', basically it is made of plastic and shaped like a half moon it comes in 3 different sizes. on the side of the plastic it has tiny claws to stick to your hair...It is really great..I used this throughout my wedding days and on my registry I put a bump it in my hair at 8.30am and didnt take it out until 11.30 at night and it stayed in place...

^ that's a good idea. I saw it on the tv but didn't know what it was called!

A bumpit doesn’t work for an everyday basic root backcomb, I backcomb my part just a little everyday because i have thick heavy hair that falls flat. I changed hairsprays and i find tresseme has a great firm hold spray. Also sectionn your hair into smaller and thinner pieces as you tease it. Sometimes for people with heavier hair you just have to have smaller sections. I have also begun spraying the section lightly and then teasing it, and then spraying it with some more. For an added security you can tease your hair section and while it’s poofy and standing up spray it with hairspray and blast it with hot hair from your blowdryer to help set it. I haev also seen stylist in salons take sections of my hair and use a curling iron to create a bump, set that with spray and do that all over, and then they come back and tease each curled bump. this guy does it here:
