Ok here’s a fabulous tip for a gol roti :

After you have made the ball .. flatten it slightly then hold it between your thumb and your index finger , like you hold a frisbie … and start applying pressure on the corners while rotating it … this step is what will ensure you get a gol roti ..

then when you are ready to use the rolling pin , ensure that you apply pressure on the corners .. also dont bailan it too thin or wide … when its slightly rolled out , practice to do the rest with the pat of your hands ..you know how the roti is done … that will give you gol roti …

This is it. In the beginning…my nani would make my pera for me and then press out the edges into a round shape exactly how CB describes. Slowly I got the hang of it…it takes practice but this step helps.
