By asking them.
For ex) if u want to know if they r a stay-at-home type, or a party type...ask them, "how often do u go out?"..."wot type of music do u like?"..."wot is ur family like, do u get on with them?"...tv, films, food, travelling, music, clothing, work, school...etc., etc. things like that...there r so many topics u cud start questions about.
Once u have opened up to each other by asking simple questions like these in the start, then it's easier to go deeper n deeper into knowing their personality. U want to know their daily activities? Ask the person...and tell them about urself too. That's all i can think of rite now, hope it helps.

u start off by telling a lil bit about yourself.. this way she will feel more comfortable and relaxed after knowing YOU, she can open herself to u .. u give some, u get some, thats how it works..
u dont ask question directly, its purely rude...u ask in a neat, wrapped-in-ribbons-method.. as shweetdreamz said. ...

Just by asking questions…give and take…ask her something about any of those topics…after she replies, u can tell her wot ur into…like with the family question, “so, do u get along with ur family?..how many siblings?”…then after her answer, u can say “yea i get along quite well with mine…have (this many) bros (etc.)”
Maybe my examples r wack, but u get my point rite…u just have to make a start, an opening…after that it will flow naturally…don’t stress over it too much! U can do it

i agree with sweetdreamz, n datz y i opened a thread kuz when u ask diz kinda question u dont get right answer…for example sum1 will say all day they do iz goto school, sleep, chat…but m sure there’z plenty of stuff they do in between dat

I think as u have more conversations with them, u will move past the school, sleep, chat etc. stages…depends how much they want to open up to u also…they may just think ur being plain nosey if u push it to much u know…don’t seem fake by trying to stick to a script, just be natural…be urself

Its very easy to make out every thing regarding some one’s personal life, show that you are the best friend and do care, etc blah blah and make believe you are the most sincere and true on earth… and the person will trust you and will tell every thing, later you can throw that person in despair and can leave him die in arid zone…
PS: I wonder you haven’t learn this simple rule being on GS for a long…
