I know condemnation and expression of sorrow is also necessary, but still there should be something that keep their names alive.
Share your ideas, what could be done?
When I saw footage of the school and the destroyed library, class rooms, etc, I remembered that there are many schools in our country including schools in KPK, which lacks facilities. Some schools don’t have laboratories for science students, some don’t have play grounds, some lack good libraries. There are areas, where there are no schools at all.
It would be great if Pakistani public in collaboration with government (I can trust Imran Khan) and army start providing these facilities to the schools and name these structures (libraries, laboratories, auditoriums, playgrounds, etc) behind the names of victims of Peshawar tragedy. This will boost our education system as well.
Keeping politics aside,I really wished BCCI to announce a match in Peshawar between India and Pakistan and that would have been a major blow to `sick minded people’.The amount will go to the victims and I am sure it would be a considerable amount of money.but sadly no quarter would agree to it or no word has come up. Just one match would do it with 6 or 7 tier security.
Personally speaking,if I were the B.C.CI head ,I would have just announced a match and would have made my team play there and that would have benefited not only the victims but it would have been a a great thrust against terror. It also would have augmented India’s image in K.P(which is traditionally anti-Indian) and also among victim’s families.
The best thing Pak government can do now is to actively promote education in this part of the region but that has to be done after beefing up security.I fear there is a chance that these senseless butchers will again try for soft targets .
Enact a law which will ensure basic human right for every child in pakistan..even children of haari and all other underprivileged people even children of ttp members, children from minority community
There’s a picture circling around on Internet which is clearly photoshopped. It shows Malala and her father standing next to a terrorist who was killed in Peshawar attack. I would request everyone to report the pic if you can…or speak out against it. Whosoever has done this is a pathetic SOB.
I think the better we can do is to end polarization in our society. We should learn not to take sides and talking about the people we love or share sect, ideology, etc. We should promote a culture where we have same reaction for all mis-happening.. be it happens to Malala or some poor child in Waziristan. Mourning over deaths of Peshawer students and just be happy and content by saying that children who got killed in drones is a collateral damage will further polarize the society. We should talk and do something for all the victims.
Thanks for letting us know Hareem. That is sick that people are trying to politicise the situation this way. Just because this may lead to more support for Malala’s views. If that propaganda spreads i am sure it will poison minds and further strengthen conspiracy theorists who think Malala/West are behind everything. Or since Kailash considers her his daughter an Indian link will be drawn.
I think all ideas mentioned are excellent-facilities, funds, scholarships. I would also like some educational facility to be named for the Peshawar victims-maybe a museum on KPK history or science. Maybe one of Muslim and/or Pakistani scientists throughout time. I would also like a memorial with flowers to be made for victims. Each name of every child should be written and a bit about them and their dreams. They are martyrs and their dreams should be respected and never forgotten. All the dreams they had should be made to come true for an equivalent child with similar dreams. So if one child wanted to be in the army or a doctor..people of the army and medical professionals should help make this dream come true for another through scholarships/funds.
i would collect small amounts of money $10 a month every month for at least a year] from the ones i know locally/internationally and create a fund for a number of scholarships to students who can’t afford to pay the fees and/or books/uniforms/lunch.
i’m presently doing it for AMU [my Alma mater] for the last 7 years. i collect about $500 a month and AMU gives 10 scholarships of Rs. 2650 per student per month. it’s a big help for the poor and bright students of AMU.
Death is certain and it a point of no-return and people like me who has no faith in tales of afterlife it is dead-end
Pakistani army should abduct their children, teach them in same APS and send them back to their fathers so that they say to their dads that they did wrong that day
Death is certain, all types of deaths are dead-ends, life is full of possibilities
I think the memorial/museum should also have collage of all the worldwide candlelight vigils and videos of it. It should also have all supportive messages from world on a wall. So that people can remember how the victims touched the whole world and how world over recognised their bravery especially that of the teachers who sacrificed themselves by getting burnt in fire to save their students.
Maybe scholarships can be named after the children and teachers.
I loved the idea of creating more educational opportunities and facilities in KPK and naming the advancements after the martyrs as presented in the OP. I also loved the idea of planting a tree after each. If only our govt were concerned enough to dedicate a part of land to those innocent souls and trees planted therein after the martyrs turning it into a park or forest in the memory of those flowers who sacrificed their lives not as their or even their family’s fault, but only because they happened to be Pakistani.
hmmmm in my opinion we can make a Charity/Fund box in each school with the name of 12/16 of Pakistan…and each school will give free education on the basis of this fund each year
