how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

how did you inform at your workplace that you are pregnant.
My immediate boss knows but I do not know how to tell other colleagues.
Just wait for the baby bump to show and they will figure out themselves or what ?

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

About 8 weeks in I told my supervisor and gave him permission to tell the administration above him, so they could prepare for my absence. At 12 weeks I sent an email to my colleagues (we were on summer vacation, so I was not going to see them immediately).

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

hmmm I just informed my female co-workers as soon as I came to know about my pregnancy at around 6 weeks because they all informed me as soon as they came to know about theirs. Among men only my boss knew and I am glad I informed these people because they took care of me like a family infact I was more well taken care of at my work.

they saw the bump and guessed pretty quickly :p

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

I told my immediate coach at around 7 weeks. Then told a few close friends at work around 12 weeks and everyone else guessed by the bump/conversations of the baby.

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

something like this " I am pregnant..wish me good luck"

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

My wife is an OB/GYN and is constantly surrounded by other OB/GYNs. They guessed pretty early on when my wife was operating on someone and had to break scrub twice to go to the rest room and also because she kept getting sick (nausea) when operating laparoscopically. Those two symptoms are universally recognized by any OB out there.

Re: how to inform work colleagues about your pregnancy

thanks for the suggestions.
It is so much easier if everyone guessed by themselves : )
I plan on telling the female colleagues I am close with but most of the people around me are male and I am not very close to them and email sounds like a good idea.
