Rumor is a combined crime consist of Lie, Back biting, false allegation, assertion, or hearsay of doubtful accuracy!

Spreading of rumors may result in some really serious consequences!

Islam has forbidden this action completely. A rumor forwarder is as much criminal as a rumor inventor!

We are suppose to stop rumors, please do not pass it on unless it is confirmed, Its a hideous crime in Islam and no one from a decent society appreciate this!

Well heres some food for thought on this subject....

Friends get together and share latest news.

If the news is all TRUE, then they are simply sharing news.

If the news is FALSE then they are gossiping and spreading rumors!

Well I beg to differ with AE’s explanation here … As per my knowledge, a rumor is a piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth..

And there is a study conducted by Gordon Allport and Joseph Postman in 1947 which concludes that as rumor travels it grows shorter, more concise, more easily grasped and told.

This conclusion Psychology of Rumor ] was based on a test of message diffusion between persons, which found that about 70% of details in a message were lost in the first 5-6 mouth-to-mouth transmissions….

Therefore in end , what all you getting is a made up yoke … And mostly it tend to be false
