Some of my friends are destroying their health by smoking too much. Today a colleague showed some extreme pictures of body parts and many ways how smoking causes a bad impact on them. Most of the pictures were of teeth, heart, lungs,…etc. after smoking ruined them.
BUT instead of getting concious, some people became aggressive and said that it is our personal matter. YOU mind your OWN business and from now onwards we would smoke twice as much as we used to smoke before. Very sad (Body is a gift of Allah and the soul has no right to intentionally hurt it)
My colleague told me that I did it for a good intention, as a human. I don’t get any money for trying to convince them but I sincerely feel bad when people ruin their health. It doesn’t effect me in any way. Let them smoke ten at a time.
I felt that there might be even better ways of convincing people to stop smoking instead of scaring them of diseases.
1) People pay money to buy the health, you are paying money to destroy it, no matter how personal matter this be to you, yet you are stupid.
2) Its your personal matter that you smoke, but when ur smoke goes into my lungs becomes my personal matter and I have full right to my personal matter making me kick ur butt.
3) If you die due to smoking early, make sure my TAX money doesn't pay your child support.
I as an ex smoker tell you nobody can convince a smoker until smoker himself wants to quit. My mother (doctor) used to give me lot of reading material to kick the habit but it never worked. I quit after having two girls, I want to see them grow and my wife's support has played a vital role in it. Smoking is addiction and addiction is disease. It requires lots and lots of will power, but the benefits are worth it.
^ You might be able to give better advice in how to convince a smoker to leave smoking.
Few problems I know about a smoker.
He smokes after a meal. Some chain smoker complain that their stool doesn’t pass when they don’t smoke ( Sorry for vulgerity)
He might resist smoking until he faces a very tense situation or when another smoker lights a cigerate infront of him as the smell tempts him to start his old habbit.
IF he has nothing to do he starts feeling ich in his fingers which used to hold a cigerate and he thinks that by smoking he is utilizing his time.
He thinks that he has taken much out of smoking than smoking has taken out of him:pcg:
As an ex-smoker myself I agree with LB. I quit more than 10 years ago and if I have someone smoking next to me I still have an extremely tempting urge to take an inhale or two. And let me repeat, its been more than 10 years. Not to defend the smokers or anything but you really never know the feeling unless you are a smoker yourself. You have honest and good intentions to get them to quit but if they don't want to, there isn't much you will be able to do. Its their life after all.

Right there, thats what you can use trying to convince.... probably one of the weakest point for "parents", but then all smoker 'friends' may not be 'parent' yet.

After 6 years I am still not 100% smoke free. I still go for sheesha maybe once or twice a month. The urge is very attractive.
Well Smokers! They are so callous. Do you think they will take care of you when they puff? They hold their infant in one arm and smoke cig after cig! So pathetic of them.
Smokers are smoking there life
Every smoke takes away 15 minutes of life....
Person only smoke once in life, when he smokes his first cigratee! later cigratte smoke him for rest of his life
Once there was a discussion if smoking is allowed or not allowed in Islam. I requested the smoker to not ask my opinion but to focus on the following points and decide on his own.
If suppose a person would have come to the Prophet (saw) and told him that people are using something which:
Harms your health in many ways.
Cost you money. In other words you pay to harm yourself.
It not only harms the person using it but also those siting around him.
Using it infront of imature people and children might also encourage them to use it.
It easily makes you an addict and it is not easy to leave it.
If not available in your area, you might leave your other duties and prefer travelling to a far place only to get it.
If you have so less money that you can only afford to eat meal, than you might prefer smoking over eating nutritious meal. (Which is a genuine demand of your body)
By using it frequently you are supporting the industry /company (economically and indirect advertising) which is planning to inject this poison in the blood of the up coming generations.
Now it is up to you to feel what the Prophet (saw) would have answered.
