Avoid high calorie food. Stick to a good and balanced diet plan. If you have normal delivery then you can probably start with excericise within a month after consulting your doctor.
Main thing is sticking to a good diet plan and NOT overeating.

Eat a well balanced diet and mygoodnessgraciousme....avoid eating tons of turnips. broccili, cauliflower and beans. If you eat stuff that gives YOU gas and then you breastfeed, you give the gas to your baby!

Dont workout for atleast 6 weeks. I waited till my 6 week check up and still the midwife asked me to wait a bit longer to start doing abwork. I would suggest talk to your gyno/midwife and get their approval before starting any workout routine.

Yep, as everyone said eat a blalanced diet and Nursing really helps lose the weight and keep it off (my personal experience).... so if you're nursing, you should be good for now (till you can start exercising) :)

I have heard the same thing that nursing helps to get back in shape.

What sort of foods should you eat soon after delivery and the following weeks? My mom thinks that I should totally cut back on roti and rice....is that what any of you did?

Don't start working out until your midwife lets you know it's safe to do so.

Breastfeeding is a good way to lose some of the weight you gained while pregnant.

Remember, it took your body 9 months to accommodate a growing baby, so don't rush yourself to lose the weight - take your time and hopefully the weight loss will be more long term.

For now, just eat healthily, don't cut things out just eat them in moderation. I find that a lot of girls cut out carbohydrates but then the minute a slice of bread touches their lips the weight just piles back on. A little of what you fancy does you no harm. Keep yourself busy with the baby and taking him/her for brisk walks will help.
