If all else fails, smuggle in a bacon sandwich – pork is banned – and a poppy seed roll will add to the criminality of the action, as poppy seeds are also on the UAE’s forbidden list.
POrk is NOT banned in the UAE.....ALL the Asians other than Muslims eat pork over there, if you go to the grocery store by the name of "Spinneys" you can buy pork in all sorts and forms!!!
As for shorts and blah blah blah...all the foreigners do it..and most of the laws in Dubai are only applicable to ppl who don't look white!!!!
Those rules apply in Sharjah...Sharjah is the most strict Emirate in the UAE.
You may get one or 2 cases here and there....but most of the time its not an issue. If they start making an issue about the way ppl dress in Dubai..they will not have much going for them as they thrive on tourism these days.
fake. neither pork is banned in the UAE nor you get arrested for wearing a short. though bad, but 1000s of people wear indecent cloths all over UAE (Including sharjah, specially Dubai and Abu Dhabi) and police doesn't even bothers to ask them anything.
this arresting stuff happens only if you have had a recent "talk" with police, or you did not gave them "favour", or any local is not happy with you. in that case, even not having your car washed for few days can get you arrested : p
Aaliya thats a strange info for me. I have never ever been harassed by any Arab , egyptian or syrian or lebanese or anyone.
Rather I have been always respected, specially by the local arabs here. They seem so happy when they know that I am from Pakistan and muslim.
I have never heard to many complaints from ppl around me either. Indians do sometimes but i think that is mostly based on their over all view about Arabs which is that they are aayaash ppl. Again those who complains are mostly Malayalams and sorry to say they are annoying to everyone. Not all but a big majority of them is annoying. like the ones who are into real estate business
Blive me FT....If the lady does not look like an arab or a local lady....or she does not wear an Abaya....then they think it gives them the right to make suggestive comments to you...or look you up and down as if you were some thing in the market for them buy!!!!!
I never seen any discrimination against any race color or nationality whatever..... in Dubai, in my many trips and stays.
I look both chinese and Pathan, which i both am, and i never had to face anything which i face in Pakistan...
