Hello lovely ladies,
Im hoping to get bit of advice.
My soon to be 4 month old LO refuses to nap during the day. As a result as soon as the clock strikes 4, she turns into a total grump and no matter what I would do, she will not stop whinging. I get so fed up that I put her to bed at 6.30pm which means an early morning for us ( after 2 hourly night waking)
She used to nap for 2 hours in the afternoon but that’s an old story now.
Ive tried dark room, shshing patting, rocking, swinging, feeding her to sleep, white noise, walk in the pram.
Im so exhausted and fail to understand why she is such a sleep fighter. She is clearly tired but will not sleep.
Is there anything else that I can try? Any tip?
Please help, Im at the end of my tether with this daily fussing and crying.
I am no lovely lady, well lovely yes; but not a lady, though I believe that baby will fall to sleep if he is tired. Maybe you could play with him an hour before, let him crawl and chase you, and then maybe give him nice warm bath with some soothing oil. Also, it would help, both you and the baby, if you also can take a nap with him. It happened many times with me that in the process of trying to give my girls a nap, I dozed off and when woke up after half an hour, they were sleeping.
agree with the above…but i was also wonderning if you have changed her diet in any way. If you are breastfeeding, have to started to drink tea or coffee recently. Maybe thats whats casuing her to skip naps.
She’s a little too young not to be napping during the day.
Where do you put her down for her naps? Put her down in her crib if you don’t already. Give her a bottle or nurse her. Keep the room quiet and dark and lay down with her.
Thanks everyone for replying.
TLK I do give her a massage and a bath but thats before bedtime.
Lusi & sadzzz she wakes up at 7am.
rabia3983 nope haven’t changed anything in the diet. I dont take caffeine.
Wendy Darling I put her in the bed and nurse her. She won’t sleep in the cot. Only on rare occasions at night she manages to sleep in her cot.
I do lie down with her not that it makes any difference.
She used to nap well but for past 3-4 weeks it has all messed up.
She will keep yawning and crying but will not nap :-/
Today I managed to get her to nap in the pram for 30 min and that was after walking for 2 hours !
Dont know what else to try. All this crying is getting me down.
Spoke to the hv who thinks it might be the 4th month sleep regression, if that’s any true.
Maybe he is an early riser. My son is always up b/w 6:30-7:30.
Maybe rock him to sleep or leave him in a bouncer around noon. He is cranky because he needs a nap but can’t. Is he taking enough milk before nap time?
4 month is too small if she is up n not crying Let her play in her crib n you can sleep an hour more
If she is cranky n crying n nothing in her routine changed thn she might be teething yes teething can start tht early also
My daughter had Same issue 2 weeks bck dead tired not ready to sleep n all cranky n yes she was having her last set of teeths n then automatically she came bck to her routine
Yes she has been dribbling loads but I cant feel or see any change in her gums.
I thought they get a bit red and swollen when babies are teething, is it not right?
