how to find my perfect match...................

in foundations…

i know this topic has been beaten to death but i am not very good with foundations and i am too clumsy to mix two shades, i can never figure that out. I went to mac sometime ago, asked the lady to match the color , tried it and bought it. but apparently that wasn’t a wise decision as i looked like as if i have rubbed some clay mask on my face. i tried a couple of other drug store brands either had the same issue or looked normal face to face but ghostish in pictures. i finally settled on maybelline wonder finish but now i have a estee lauder gift card,…so rather than buying a perfume i am thinking of buying double wear foundation. any tips to match the color…i was thinking of getting a full face application and then going out in natural lights to see the results…anything else i can do to make sure that i am getting the perfect match for my skin tone?

Re: how to find my perfect match...................

i think checking in natural light is the best bet. get a few samples before you commit to a color.

Re: how to find my perfect match...................

Get samples of all the brands you want to try. I NEVER buy foundation based on what it looks like after the sales person put it on me. I always think that they put on too much!

Este Lauder, Lancome, Chanel, MAC, MUFE HD, NARS......I've never had problems getting samples of any of these. And the samples they give is good for several applications. Once home, I try on the samples at least 2-3 different days....look at it in natural light.....and even take pics to see how it photographs.
